Things to Do
South Boston is located minutes from all Boston has to offer, as well as the surrounding areas of the White Mountains and Cape Cod. There are also many options to enjoy the neighborhood near home.
Castle Island is a state park and the site of Fort Independence. Visitors can tour the fort in the summer and explore the walking trails and the public beach. Castle Island is also the perfect spot to enjoy views of the Harbor and downtown Boston skyline.
Carson Beach is one of several beaches in South Boston located along the Old Harbor. Carson Beach is a popular spot in the summer, largely due to its swimming, sunbathing, and outdoor recreation opportunities.
Dorchester Heights is one of the most important Revolutionary War memorials in Boston. With historical graves and a tower that is accessible to climb, there’s lots of history to be found in this park.
In winter, strap on your skates and visit the
Murphy Memorial Skating Rink. The skating rink offers public skate times, lessons, and practice time for hockey teams. It also features a restaurant serving Boston classics when you need a break from the ice.
